Privacy Policy

Viscan ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our barcode and QR code scanning application.

Information We Don't Collect

Viscan operates entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of the following on external servers:

  • Scanned barcode or QR code data
  • Scan history or stock check data
  • Personal identification information
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers
All scan records, settings, and stock data are stored locally on your device and never leave it unless you explicitly use the Share or Export features to send data to a destination of your choosing.


Camera & Photo Library Access

The App requires camera access to scan barcodes and QR codes in real time. Camera data is processed entirely on your device and is never recorded, saved, or transmitted. If you choose to scan barcodes from your photo library, the selected image is processed on-device for barcode detection only. 


Contact & Calendar Access

If you scan a vCard (contact) or calendar event barcode and choose to import it, the App will request access to your Contacts or Calendar. This data is processed solely to create the contact or event on your device and is never transmitted elsewhere. 

Messages & Emails

If you scan a QR code containing an SMS link (SMSTO:) or email link (mailto:, MATMSG:), the App reads the phone number or email address and any included message body from the barcode to open your device's messaging or email app. This data is read ephemerally for the purpose of opening the appropriate app and is never stored or transmitted by Viscan.

Files & Documents

The App allows you to import barcode lists from CSV or TXT files for stock verification, and to export scan history or stock data to CSV or TXT files. All file operations are user-initiated. Imported files are processed locally on your device. Exported files are saved to your device or shared via the system share sheet — you choose the destination. We do not access, upload, or transmit your files to any server.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services that may process limited data:

  • RevenueCat — Manages in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat processes anonymous purchase tokens to verify your subscription status. No personal information is shared. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • Google ML Kit — Used for barcode detection when scanning from images. Processing occurs entirely on-device. No image data is sent to Google servers.

Subscription Data

Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat using an anonymous identifier. We do not link your subscription to any personal identity. Your subscription state is cached locally on your device for offline access. 
 

Data Sharing & Export

The App includes Share and Export (CSV/TXT) features. These are entirely user-initiated actions. You control what data is shared and with which application or service. We do not automatically share any data. 


Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us.


Data Retention & Deletion

All data generated by the App is stored locally on your device only. We do not maintain any servers or databases containing your data. You can delete all App data at any time by:

  • Within the App: Use the "Clear All" option in the scan history and stock tabs to remove individual data categories.
  • System Settings: Navigate to your device Settings → Apps → Viscan → Storage → Clear Data to remove all locally stored data.
  • Uninstall: Deleting the App from your device permanently removes all associated local data.

For subscription-related data held by RevenueCat (anonymous purchase tokens), you may request deletion by contacting us, we will instruct RevenueCat to delete your anonymous account within 30 days.


Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
